Cypherseal helps companies that have a need to easily print secure and confidential information such as payslips, letters, invoices, statements, medical records, cheques (to name but a few examples) in sealed and tamper proof documents.
Traditionally, some businesses have used the pressure seal method of printing payslips or the old dot matrix printers.
The dot matrix printers are being phased out as they are expensive to maintain and difficult to replace, while pressure seal machines are inefficient. They work by using high pressure to activate glue around the perimeter of the payslip stationary. The glue is dry to touch and only becomes activated when subjected to extremely high pressure.
The key problem with this approach is that the high temperatures in the laser printer inevitably causes some partial ‘melting’ of the glue and hence contaminate the rollers in the printer. This can and does result in a complete failure of the printer!
In addition, the pressure seal glue, once activated is not always completely tamper proof. The seal on the payslip is relatively easy to break and then re-seal without leaving any evidence that it has been opened. Pressure seal machines are also heavy, noisy and ‘maintenance hungry’.
Cypherseal provides a simple yet revolutionary solution that enables customers to automatically produce tamper proof documents in a single process. The document or payslip passes through a laser printer before being fed into a heat seal unit. In the heat seal unit a second sheet which has heat seal glue already applied to its edges is neatly married to the printed document which is then sealed, encasing the document. This way no glue passes through the laser printer so no printer contamination occurs. The document is also prevented from being viewed after it is printed because it is fed directly into the heat seal unit from the laser printer.
The user gets a more secure and more efficient method of producing tamper proof document or payslips. Cypherseal with its patented heat seal solution clearly demonstrates a lower cost of ownership than Pressure seal.

CYPHERSEAL - HEAT SEAL |
PRESSURE SEAL |
Able to use the full side of the paper for printing (A4 or A5) |
Due to glue lines and Z fold, only have approx 50% of the paper space available for printing |
Quiet operation |
Noisy, (due to the metal plates banging together to activate the pressure adhesive) |
When sealed, unable to open without physical damage to the seal itself |
When sealed it is easy to re-open and re-seal without leaving any evidence |
Designed to be reliable with minimal maintenance |
Maintenance hungry – the metal plates go out of alignment during normal use and require regular maintenance to realign the plates. Miss aligned plates result in paper jams in the machine. |
Integrated with Brother HL6050DN laser printer with electronic comms between the printer and mailer. Thus if a paper miss feed or jam happens in either the printer or mailer, comms mean the system stops and an audible alarm sounds. |
Stand alone – no comms between the laser printer and pressure seal machine. Therefore if either the printer or pressure seal machine have a paper miss feed or jam both printer and mailer continue until both are jammed. |
No glue in the laser printer to gum up the works |
Glue does get onto the laser printer rollers (over time) and gum up the works resulting in early printer failure and causing paper jams. NOTE HP specifically exclude pressure seal paper from their authorised print media |
Shelf life of glue is over 12 months |
Shelf life of glue is 6 months or less |
